The eyes can see in two different directions at the same time
Panther chameleons have adapted to thrive in their environment. They have some extraordinary traits.  To help them see all of their surroundings they can move their eyes in different ways at the same time. This amazing ability helps them catch and escape from other animals. This species also have bunched toes (like tongs) and long toenails to help them attach to trees. Prehensile tails help them grasp on to multiple surfaces.  Almost all chameleons shed their skin. Two very small holes are near the eyes and are used for hearing even though chameleons are almost deaf. Tones and vibrations in the air help them "see' their surroundings and hunt prey. All of these traits are very interesting, but the most unique ability is to change color. This action can help them camouflage and escape and catch other organisms. Their color changes according to the temperature, danger, and emotions. Melanophore distribution around the body causes the color to vary.  Panther chameleons have interesting physical attributes that help them survive.
